About Us
The mission of the Big River Economic and Agricultural Development Alliance (BREADA, bred-uh) is to build community, promote sustainable economic development, and protect the environment through the development of a local and just agricultural economy which fosters stewardship of land and community. The current special projects of BREADA include the Red Stick Farmers Market and Main Street Market. BREADA is the Louisiana regional coordinator for Buy Fresh, Buy Local.

Big River Economic & Agricultural Development Alliance (BREADA) was founded in June 1996 with a mission of building community, promoting sustainable economic development, and protecting the environment by fostering stewardship of land and community.

The values of our first efforts over ten years ago still hold true today:
- Sustainability of small, family farms through direct sales at Farmers Markets
- Stewardship of land and community
- Access to local foods for everyone no matter what their income level
- Provide a public marketplace to connect urban consumers and local farmers

The organization works to increase the economic opportunities for small, family-owned farms in Louisiana. BREADA supports a diverse and healthy community by promoting Louisiana’s small family farms, fishers, local chefs and food artisans.
