21 Years of Red Stick Farmers Market
The first Red Stick Farmers Market was held by a small group of farmers organized by nonprofit organization BREADA in November of 1996 under the leadership of Chris Campany and Susan Turner. Twenty-one years later, BREADA is still bringing farmers and consumers together around fresh, local food every Saturday in downtown Baton Rouge. Our work has expanded to include four weekly farmers markets, Main Street Market, the Red Stick Sprouts program (connects children with local food and farmers), Red Stick Rewards (provides matching funds for low-income families), disaster relief grant programs for farmers, and nutrition education. Join us this Saturday to celebrate the connections BREADA creates in our community each week. Learn more about how to support BREADA’s programs and our impact in the community.
