Nutrition Corner

Celebrate National Garden Month by adding some floral flavors to your food and drinks! Edible flowers are not only a source of beauty and flavor for meals, but also contain phytonutrients, including antioxidants and anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and anticancer agents, depending on the type of flower.

The charts and graphics in this research article give a full breakdown of benefits of different flower varieties. While some flowers are safe to eat, others may contain toxins or be grown with pesticides, so be sure to talk to local growers to know the difference!
