Summer Fresh Fest
Things are heating up outside, bringing beautiful colorful produce to the Markets each week. June is typically one of the best months for fruits and vegetables in South Louisiana and we are lucky to have fresh field tomatoes, sweet corn, bright peppers, melons, and unique varieties of squash filling farmers’ tables. Red Stick Farmers Market’s Fresh Fest highlights a different agricultural product each week during the summer with special cooking demonstrations, tastings, and recipe cards each week. The first Saturday in June will kick things off with a celebration of our local dairy products. Feliciana’s Best Creamery will feature their farm-fresh milk in homemade ice cream made on-site in an antique John Deere rig. Sample award-winning goat cheese from Belle Ecorce Goat Dairy and check out different flavors of gelato featuring local ingredients from City Gelato.
The first Saturday in June also means the Arts Market returns with over 50 artisans from all over the Gulf region. We’ll be open rain or shine, so make plans to visit the Market this Saturday. If raining, enter the Galvez Garage for free, dry parking and look for farmers on the main level of the garage. For a complete list of farmers and food artisans inside Main Street Market, visit What’s Fresh. Find a Farmers Market near you.
