Nutrition Education & Outreach

We are excited to offer a series of free, hands-on nutrition education classes in our new teaching kitchen in Main Street Market. The goal of this program is to enhance knowledge and skills surrounding nutrition and physical activity and enable participants to practice these skills at home. You must sign up in order to attend. Classes are limited to 25 participants and sign ups are first come, first served.

Friday, March 28th – 10am-12pm: Cooking Basics and Budget-Friendly Market Meals (Chef Celeste Gill)

Friday, April 25th – 10am-12pm: Fermentation 101 (Nick Bennett, Nutrition Education Manager & Tré Veillon, The Watermark Executive Chef)

Friday, May 30th – 10am-12pm: Growing and Canning Your own Food (Judia Dugas, Lena Farms & Mila Berhane, Greenhand Nursery)

Friday, June 27th – 10am-12pm: Hydroponics and Gardening on a Small Scale (Michael Veal, Chris & Camille’s Family Farm)

Friday, July 25th – 10am-12pm: Eliminating and Making Use of “Food Waste” (Judy Myhand, LSU Nutrition Professor)

Friday, August 29th – 10am-12pm: Simple Swaps for Eating Healthy (Eva Davis, LSU AgCenter Nutrition Agent)
